THE IMPACT OF EDUCATION TEACHERS IN TRAINING, PRACTICING ENGLISH-TEACHING AS PART OF THEIR SCHOOLING PROCESS : ELT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
This intervention project consisted in guiding twenty-six B1 English level, Elementary and Kindergarten bachelor students from Escuela Normal Fronteriza Tijuana, located in the northern border of Mexico with United States of America, into teaching a 30 minute class as part of their usual teaching practice process at their respective assigned schools, as part of the English Program 2018 of Normal Schools, with the objective of motivating them to continue teaching the language throughout their professional career, familiarize themselves with the current English program, as well as to encourage other English teachers from Normal Schools to do the same follow up with their students. The results show that students that are encouraged to teach this language during their school years, are more likely to want to continue with the teaching; rather than just being an option at their work-fields, it can be part of their vocation and calling for their professional development throughout their whole career, as well as their commitment with their students and the society. Concurrently their kindergarten and elementary students, showed appreciation for the acquisition of the language, the recognition of it as their school language, as well as the motivation to practice it in school grounds as well as their other environments in which they have contact with it.
