GAMIFYING LEARNING WITH QUIZLET: DIVERSITY IN ADULT EFL CLASSROOM : DIGITAL LITERACY IN ELT
Quizlet is a digital application that offers quizzes that come in the form of games to motivate learners of all ages. The main purpose of this study was to demonstrate and explore the positive and negative impact of the gamification online learning using Quizlet as a medium in English classroom. It is a weekend class. It contained a diversity of adult students of different ages, careers, English proficiency, and nationalities. Using Quizlet created atmosphere of competitive and active learning. The results assisted teachers to understand students’ strengths and weaknesses to differentiate with lesson planning to deliver knowledge to fulfill individual students’ needs. The challenges of using new technology for non-digital-native-students is also revealed. The results of the study showed that using Quizlet not only had learners more focused on interactivity of game-based learning, but it also assisted teachers in performing and designing formative assessment more effectively in a diverse classroom.
