TASK-BASED LANGUAGE LEARNING TO ENHANCE NON-ENGLISH PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS’ ENGLISH-SPEAKING SKILLS : OTHERS

The purposes of this pre-experimental research were: 1) to study how task-based learning have an effect on non-English pre-service teachers’ English-speaking skills, and 2) to investigate non-English pre-service teachers’ satisfaction and attitudes towards task-based learning approach. Selected by purposive sampling, the samples consisted of 57 second-year non-English pre-service teachers at Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University in the first semester of the 2023 academic year. The research instruments included 1) direct speaking skills test, 2) a satisfaction questionnaire, and 3) TBL activities checklists. The data were analyzed by using mean, standard deviation, t-test dependent scores, and content analysis. The results of the research showed that after using a task-based learning approach, the pre-service teachers’ average English-speaking skill score were higher at the 0.05 level of significance, with satisfaction at the highest level. Moreover, they expressed that they were able to apply what they gained from the task-based learning session in real world implications.
