TECHNOLOGY AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING : COMPUTER-MEDIATED COMMUNICATION IN ELT
Technology has proven to enhance second language learning because it affords students not only the flexibility in learning but also increased exposure and interaction. Moreover, technology can facilitate course management and allow individualized learning. This session will introduce LMS, Google Classroom, and Zoom. These apps allow flexibility in organizing materials and conducting their teaching. The presenters will explore the benefits and potentials of these apps. Then, participants will have opportunities to set up their virtual classroom, using the iPad provided by U-Store Rangsit University.
Gary Torremucha teaches blended and online courses at Rangsit English Language Institute. His research project ITSELF (Innovative Teaching and Self-Access Learning) has led to the development of online courses.. He is currently the chair of the advisory committee on digital education and the program administrator of iLearn Learning Management System.
Patcharakorn Seemanath is Chair of Students’ Special Activities Committee, Rangsit English Language Institute. She directs special programs to engage students in using English beyond the classroom. Her research interest is to explore ways and means to enable weak students to raise their English language competency, using technology-integrated activities.
Natakorn Satienchayakorn is Assistant to Deputy Director for Testing and Academic Services at Rangsit English Language Institute. He is a certified National Assessor of ASEAN MRA on TP. He developed MRA on TP courses and conducted the training. His research interests include ESP, Corpus Linguistics, and Discourse Analysis.
Supachanin D. Sathianpan is an English lecturer at Rangsit English Language Institute (RELI). She was a trainer for English Communication for Front Office: Supervisory Level under ASEAN MRA on TP. Her research interests include 21st Century English skills and Lifelong Learning.
Supachai Saeeaw is an English language instructor at Rangsit English Language Institute. She served as a course developer and trainer for English Communication for Front Office: Operational Level. Her research interest is the application of English pronunciation teaching, genre analysis, and language assessments.
Weera Wundee is Deputy Director for Testing and Academic Services at Rangsit English Language Institute. He is responsible for language assessment, academic services and teaching English for both undergraduate and graduate programs at Rangsit University. His interest is in applying technology in English language teaching and assessment.
Weerapa Pongpanich is an English lecturer at Rangsit English Language Institute at Rangsit University where she received her Master’s Degree in English for Professions. She is also a course developer and a trainer for English Communication for Front Office: Operational Level. She is interested in EFL, ESL, and case studies.
