APA WORKSHOP: METHODS AND MATERIALS FOR TEACHING REFERENCING SKILLS : CURRICULUM AND MATERIALS DEVELOPMENT

The workshop will cover the methods and materials I use to teach referencing skills for advanced level academic writing courses. Many international second language learners have little or no experience using any type of referencing style. This poses unique challenges for both Academic English learners and teachers. Over the course of 10 years of teaching advanced level writing and research skills, I have developed a scaffolded approach for teaching referencing skills (focused on APA). Additionally, I have developed, adapted and collected a bank of materials and resources to address these students’ specific needs.
