ANNIE MODEL MAKES GRAMMAR LESSONS MORE COMMUNICATIVE AND ACTIVE: A CASE STUDY OF SURATHAMPITAK SCHOOL : LANGUAGE LEARNING

Grammar lessons are bitter and boring for high school students. Learning English means remembering rules without meaning, interaction and communication. Class time is mostly spent on explaining rules, doing exercises, and checking answers. Teacher is in the limelight while the students sit passively and complete their task individually. Although students are able to pass the test, they have no idea how to apply those rules to real communication. This presentation will talk about the teacher-designed instructional model called ANNIE that enhances grammar learning of high school students in Surathampitak School, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. ANNIE is the combination of CLT (Communicative Language Teaching) and Blended Learning Approach that can be used to improve students’ English communication , maximize interaction among students and promote active learning.
