EMBEDDING ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNING (AFL) IN LESSON PLANS AND CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES FOR THAI PRIMARY LEARNERS : TEACHING YOUNG LEARNERS
This paper showcases the rationale of the assessment for learning (AFL) lesson plan integrated in teaching-learning process for primary third graders at Anubanmuang Uthaithani School in the Thai authentic classroom settings. Implementing AFL techniques in classroom practice will be discussed regarding the analysis of the key learning and teaching points throughout the lesson plan procedures as well as the improvements in both high- and low-achieving student performances. It also highlights how AFL can be embedded in learning English language for communicative purposes to make thinking visible for young learners. Come and experience how to design engaging AFL lesson plans and activities for making assessment a regular part of learning. This insight will enable learners to develop a sense of ownership and efficacy. Saengkae Khonghuayrob is a practitioner of English language teaching and learning. She has been teaching English for ten years in EFL context.
