ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION ISSUES IN THAI NATIVE SPEAKERS : BILINGUAL AND MULTILINGUAL EDUCATION
For Thai native speakers, English sounds, rhythm and intonation can pose great difficulties. In this workshop, Karen will take you through the main issues she has found whilst working with Thai children under the age of 11, and various ideas and techniques that she has used to try and help them. These include mouth models, mirrors, singing, Cued Articulation, breathing exercises, speech therapist interventions, parent workshops, teacher training and learning Thai. This will be an interactive workshop, so please come prepared to say silly sounds! This workshop will be of interest both to Thai native speakers who would like to get a few tips for themselves, and also teachers who find that their Thai students struggle with certain aspects of English pronunciation.
Karen grew up in London and has been an English pronunciation teacher since 2013. She has been working at Amnuay Silpa School since 2018, helping the children learn how to pronounce English sounds accurately.
