BALANCED LITERACY IN THE EFL CLASSROOM : LITERACY AND 21ST CENTURY SKILLS IN ELT
It is often an issue for teachers to formulate structure and proper development for their students without any real vision or foresight. In this Balance Literacy session, Mr. Panizzon will provide a teacher-friendly guide to the critical elements of a comprehensive balanced literacy framework to be used in the EFL classroom through a very clear explanation of what has been historically effective and how we must pivot to work in accordance to expanding technological and cultural environments. Through understanding the developmental progression of word study, reading, and writing and purposeful assessments, teachers will be able to create learning environments to meet students' needs and identify the problem areas to provide the essential knowledge for development. With examples of research-based model lessons and flexible, effective strategies, teachers will find engaging ways to support all learners for college and career readiness. Attendees will be encouraged to provide their own classroom experiences for maximum engagement.
